George Witte is the author of two books of poems, Deniability (Orchises, 2009) and The Apparitioners (Three Rail Press, 2005). His work has been published widely, in periodicals including The Atlantic, Boulevard, Gettysburg Review, Kenyon Review, New Haven Review, Shenandoah, Southwest Review, and elsewhere, as well as the Best American Poetry 2007 and Vocabula Bound 2 anthologies. A native of New Jersey, he is a graduate of Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was awarded Poetry’s Frederick Bock Prize for a group of poems, and received a fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State . For twenty four years he has worked at St. Martin’s Press, as an editor, as the publisher of Picador USA, and now as editor in chief.
